Meet Lee! Edafio’s July Associate Spotlight

Home » Blog » Meet Lee! Edafio’s July Associate Spotlight

We are thrilled to pay tribute today to Lee Hammers, one of Edafio’s esteemed client relationship managers, and an associate spotlight for July.

The comings and goings of staff are a part of every dynamic organization; therefore, it can be challenging to get to know our coworkers better as people, especially during a time of social distancing. We have to be mindful that our company culture thrives on our exceptional people as much as their exceptional technical skills!

As such, we are finding that our periodic interviews with associates allow us to acknowledge and celebrate the beautiful life stories, amazing professional accomplishments, and even the little quirks that make us uniquely beautiful human beings.

We hope you find each Edafio associate story as inspiring as we do in gathering and sharing them.

What drew you to this profession?

I enjoy interacting and communicating with different people, mainly face-to-face, which has been a significant challenge recently.  Being able to do this job on a local level, with people I could cross paths with at any point outside of work, has also given more notable meaning to the work I do and the decisions I make to support their companies.

Throughout the interview process, I found myself interviewing Edafio as much as Edafio was interviewing me, and I appreciated the consistent message I found. Almost three years later, it’s been great to see that come to fruition regularly. Edafio has been the best work environment I’ve had as a professional.

What do you like to do in your free time

Well, this year, my free time has been spent on projects in and around our house!  Aside from that, I like to go hiking/camping with the family and enjoy traveling and going to live events (sports, concerts, etc.)

When I’m creatively stuck, I

like to get away, which includes going for a drive and or a walk. Many times, it’s as simple as a change of scenery or getting out in nature that can make all the difference for me.

Who or what inspires you?

My wife and kids inspire me.  My wife (who is beautiful, intelligent, and generally all-around wonderful) is continuously moving forward and looking for ways to improve; herself, her career, our family, our home, etc. She pushes me to never settle for mediocrity and always strive to be better today than I was yesterday. With my kids, who are equally amazing, we’ve been able to develop an expectation of excellence and a “do what you say you’re going to do” mentality.  They won’t let me get away with not upholding that expectation!  I know that their eyes are on me, and I want to ensure I’m an excellent example for them.

The quarantine can be a time of learning, self-reflection, and personal discovery. That said, is there anything you would like to share that COVID-19 and this quarantine has taught you?

One important thing I’ve learned is, spending time doing things with your family and spending time doing nothing with your family are two different equations that yield greatly different results. Before the pandemic, we spent plenty of time together as a family, but it was always going somewhere or doing something.  Many times, this led to stress and disconnection. However, during the quarantine period, we’ve been able to spend time together with nowhere to go and nothing to do. We’ve been able to invest in each other, rather than a task and have grown very close as a family.

One important thing I’ve learned is, spending time doing something with your family and spending time doing nothing with your family are two different equations that yield considerably different results.

We’ve grown closer as a family by investing time in each other, rather than a task or activity.

Everyone at Edafio has a story about why they joined the team. What’s yours?

By the time I was looking for something new to pursue, I wanted to find the right company more than I wanted to find the right job/career path. It was vital for me to find a company that matched my values and provided a service or product that I trusted. I met a couple of Edafio associates at the time and discussed their experiences with the company. From those conversations, it was clear that it was a perfect match for me. <div>Throughout the interview process, I found myself interviewing Edafio as much as Edafio was interviewing me, and I appreciated the consistent message I found. Edafio is always looking for exceptional candidates to join our team. For an opportunity to work with folks like Lee, be sure to visit our careers page to learn more.
