Amy Langston

Tell us a little about yourself, and what do you like to do most outside of work?

I was born in Texas and later moved to Arkansas when I was about 4. I have a brother and sister; I’m the baby of the three, arriving 13 and 16 years behind my siblings. I graduated from Warren, AR and then attended the University of Arkansas at Monticello (UAM), graduating with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Computer Information Systems. I’ve been married to my husband, Vann, for 21 years this June. We have three daughters; our oldest, Mackenzie, is 18, graduates in May, loves to travel and cheerlead and will cheer on the mighty Boll Weevils at UAM in the fall. Our middle daughter, Kathryn is 15 and very creative and artistic – she loves to paint; Avery is our youngest at nine years old, and she is fearless and loves club soccer. We have a basset hound named Fred and two cats, Bradley and Luna.

What does your job entail?

I will be responsible for the recruitment and onboarding of new hires. I have worked in recruiting for fourteen years and love it! In addition to recruiting, I love to work with teams to create a growth plan to upskill employees to be fulfilled in their roles.

What brought you to Edafio

After 14 years in the staffing industry, I decided to make the giant leap and pursue my passion of working within a technology-focused company. A former client and colleague knew of the opening and recommended I apply, and as I began to meet the Edafio team and see the community involvement, I knew this was the right place for me! The Core Values resonated, and with each team member I met, I could see the Core Values meant something here. I am so excited about the opportunities ahead with this team!

Motto or personal mantra

What do you like to do most outside of work?

I love to travel and have a goal to visit all 50 states – my top three thus far have been Custer, South Dakota (Buffalo herds were just beautiful!); the American Southwest; and Dublin, Ireland. I love spending time with my family, and we love creating some Griswold adventures on road trips!

In addition to travel, I enjoy photography, art, time outdoors, gardening, hiking, kayaking, going to concerts, or riding four-wheelers at our farm in south Arkansas. I am somewhat competitive and have played many sports over the years, and until COVID, I still played Co-Ed softball (2nd base, infielder), and I play tennis. Sadly, my recent DNA test confirmed I don’t have the sprinter gene, but my love for cilantro is legitimate.

Do you have a favorite newspaper, newsletter, book, blog and/or podcast?

I love to read and learn in general. My reading often leads to me chasing more info or articles down because I get intrigued reading something and then researching more, and two hours later, I decided to take a break. I am pretty fond of anything Patrick Lencioni wrote when it comes to teams or work material.

I read Greenlights, Matthew McConaughey’s book, and was surprised at how funny yet inspirational it was!

What skill do you think everyone should learn?

Such a tricky question! I am a life-long learner, and I think the skill of learning itself is important. Being receptive to new skills and adapting to more efficient methods is critical to growth.

What upcoming technological innovation will dramatically impact the industry in the next five years?

I keep reading more and more about the Metaverse. Very closely related are immersive art exhibits. I am intrigued by these, and the amount of creativity and collaboration is simply phenomenal! I had the opportunity to visit a fast-growing immersive art experience in Vegas – a site called Area 15. The exhibit we saw was Omega Mart, an installation of Meow Wolf, and I was completely floored. I now want to visit the other Santa Fe, Denver, and Orlando sites!
